California Climate Action Corps

The California Climate Action Corps is a statewide fellowship program that deploys about 400 full-time fellows annually to work with public agencies, nonprofits, tribes, and schools on climate-focused projects—like urban greening, organic waste diversion, edible food recovery, and wildfire resiliency—mobilizing volunteers and educating communities across California. Sustainable Marin Schools has partnered with the Corps to place 8 fellows in Novato schools, where they are actively implementing sustainability projects—such as zero-waste programs, environmental literacy initiatives, and volunteer-driven climate action—throughout the 11-month fellowship term .

Novato Unified School District

The Novato Unified School District (NUSD) serves over 7,300 students across a range of programs from TK to adult education, supported by approximately 800 staff members. Sustainable Marin Schools partners with NUSD to support environmental education and student-led sustainability initiatives across its campuses, working alongside school staff, parent groups, and volunteers to foster a greener school community.

Rotary Club of Novato

The Rotary Club of Novato is a community-based chapter of Rotary International that champions local impact through service, including environmental projects like creek restoration and stormwater medallion installations, youth scholarships, and infrastructure support. Sustainable Marin Schools collaborates with the Rotary Club of Novato—one of its valued sponsors—to enhance sustainability education in Novato schools, helping fund and launch zero-waste initiatives, garden programs, and student-led environmental action across the district.

Safe Routes to School

Marin County’s Safe Routes to Schools program, led by the Transportation Authority of Marin, promotes walking and biking to school through education, community engagement, and infrastructure improvements across 60 schools, serving over 29,000 students. Sustainable Marin Schools partners with the program to support school-site events, encourage student participation, and promote long-term transportation and environmental sustainability.

Recology Sonoma Marin

Recology Sonoma Marin focuses on shifting from traditional waste management to resource recovery by promoting a closed-loop system that supports landfill diversion and sustainability through collection, recovery, processing, and recycling efforts. Sustainable Marin Schools partners with Recology to provide waste education and help schools implement effective recycling and composting systems.
