Join Sustainable Marin Schools in celebrating Earth Month!

For Earth Month 2026, our California Climate Action Corps fellows arranged for Novato Unified School District's first interschool Earth Month competition.

Participating schools compete in four categories:
  • Climate BINGO Activity Cards
  • Compost and Recycling Contamination
  • Walk and Roll to School
  • Earth Protection Pledges

What Earth Month activities can I do...?

...with one class

  • Read a book about climate heroes
  • STEAM Project series for Earth Month
  • Walking field trip to green spaces around the school
  • Nature scavenger hunt
  • Read a book about helping the Earth
  • Bring in a speaker from a green job to inspire 

...with student clubs

  • Leadership students - campus cleaning events
  • Start a green team!
  • Make posters about reusables, ways to help
  • Write to your food and nutrition services to ask for a plastic free lunch
  • Present ideas for sustainable policies to your school's board of trustees

...school-wide

  • Earth Month Activity BINGO
  • Walk & Roll to school days (w/raffle for participants)
  • Bring in an expert to speak (about watersheds, pollinators, the place you live, from local tribes, etc)
